Day 27: This one counts

Ok guys – I’m up, its 6:40 and this counts. I have three more mornings of this. Its going to feel weird not having an obligation to wake up, but hopefully it will still be easy to get up. One thing I’m looking forward to is doing blog posts that don’t have to do with what time I woke up in the morning. I have to admit I’m getting a bit tired of just writing about my wake-up status. But lots to do today. Its painfully cold outside…we had a crazy snow/wind storm, but there is no snow this morning. I guess no spring for me anytime soon.

Day 26: Lazy

I have a confession to make. I woke up at 6:30 updated facebook, plugged my computer in, stood in my cold apartment then went back to bed. I slept until 8:30! Its almost 9:30 as I update this post.
So….this is the last week. And technically I didn’t get up at 6:30. Do I need to tack on one more day, or can I just wake up early the rest of the week?

Day 25: CHECK

So I just completed my next to last week getting up early! 5 more days to go. Its nice getting up when the sun is already up – I wonder if it will affect me as it starts getting up earlier and earlier this summer. We have daylight savings time this weekend. Right now its pretty light from 6-6, so I don’t think it will change anything that much. EXCEPT – it will be my last week of getting up early – so waking up at 6:30 will be like waking up at 5:30! Oh man – I didn’t think about that. Well, the last week may be a challenge ladies and gents, but I’m ready to step up to the plate.
Bring it on.

Day 24: Blank

I’ve been staring at the computer screen for about 5 minutes not knowing what to type. My thoughts have been more occupied with schoolwork and short films these days. I have 3 more big projects due for school and one student short I’m trying to prep for production. Its busy, its taking over my life, but it will be good. Ha – I may have to extend my early mornings until mid-May.
Have a great day everyone.

Day 23: Bacon

I’m excited about breakfast this morning – found bacon! And I think its like American bacon. So that will be breakfast.
If any of you have ventured over to England – you know that the bacon is different over here. Its big and think and fatty – its more like a fried up piece of ham. It doesn’t even compare to the bacon I grew up with in America. Seriously, I’ve been keeping my eye out for this bacon for 7 months now.

Bacon is good for me.

Day 22: Countdown

So I only have 8 more mornings of this. I know I said I would slow down, but I feel good, I’m excited, I’m on the last mile of the marathon. Now, I know that when I was literally on the last mile of my half marathon I broke my foot. So maybe this is a bad analogy. But things are good. I’m going to bed early. I no longer am working a shoot because we wrapped yesterday. I just have to do work the next 8 days. I can get through this. And everything will be just fine.

Day 21: 6:30 Saturday, Sunday, Monday

I’m blogging from a van right now. There is something very liberating about being on a laptop that works out in the open. Feels like I can do anything. Well, anything that involves the internet and a computer.
So the past three days I’ve been helping out on a shoot, with early call times, so I’ve been waking up pretty early to get there.
If we wanted to get technical I’m on day 23, but just so we don’t confuse things we’ll keep in at 21. I only have 9 more days left! But then the whole reason I’m doing this is so I’ll start waking up early in general. So I guess I have my whole life left. Maybe it will be more exciting than it sounds.
Have a nice Monday!

Day 20: Good morning

Waking up at 7 felt very refreshing. I’m not tired, I think I got good night’s rest, and I even did 30 min of Yoga this morning. It will be a good day.

Day 19: Half-check

Well today I did not get up at 6:30. I got up at 7:30. This week has been a hard one, and since I started my morning regime school has gotten incredibly busy and I’ve also taken on quite an ambitious project on the side. Well I think yesterday took its toll on me and I fainted in the shower. Don’t worry mom, everything is fine. I just banged up my leg a bit. So yesterday I canceled my meetings and just took it easy.
So I’m kind of re-thinking this early morning thing. I have 11 days more to go, but I also think my body is telling me that I need a bit more sleep, and I think its going to have to be on the morning side. So life’s all about compromises – I’m going to start getting up at 7. When I started this early morning routine, eventually I wanted to train my body to be up at 7. So for the next 11 days, that will be my target time.

Day 18: I should have gone to bed earlier last night

Its really REALLY hard not to just fall back asleep right now. I didn’t get to bed until around midnight and didn’t sleep well at all during the night – woke up at 3, 4, 5, 5:55 – it was one of those nights.
Does getting up early still count if I take a nap in an hour or so?
